Dragon Ball Z Kakarot PC Review

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot PC Setup, is the single player open environment RPG element having story focused Dragon Ball Z game many people have been clamoring for in begging floor for a long time you know for me.

And a lot of other like twenty something year olds growing up with the show legacy of goku on gameboy advance was like the game man but Kakarot here aims to retell the main.

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot PC Gameplay

The gameplay you might love or hate ultimately the first few hours I actually I felt really disappointed but the more I played it the more I grew to really enjoy it.

I think it's more than likely big Dragon Ball Z fans are gonna at least have a good time with this one let's dive in the setup is really simple you fight your way through the story occasionally stopping to catch your breath.

And then doing you know video game things long sequences of dialogue and cutscenes are capped off with big fights that are drawn out over multiple parts.

And like the show are often interrupted with shifts to other characters doing other things in between all these big moments you're free to fly around.

Or run through the open environments as various characters at specific times and this is where you pretty much do everything else like.

Fighting random spawning enemies RPG style flying around and collecting Z orbs finding resources for crafting and cooking food including hunting animals in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot PC Setup.

And a fun little fishing minigame you find ingredients and eat to then buff yourself before fights you spend money on potions.

And items at stores and like I said you spend those Z orbs to get special character traits and special attacks over time you will to learn new abilities that you can slot in through training.

Now Kappa rocks combat is really freaking exciting in motion and it definitely has its moments it walks like a fine line though between being repetitive and keeping exciting.

It's like exactly in the middle for me personally I think by the end it's a star now say it's welcome a bit but being totally powered up and having every ability at your fingertips kind of saves it.

It's a bit of a rinse and repeat dodged and hit hit hit hit doing the same hit combo type of stuff but the left bumper plus a map but unless you use special powers.

And the right side lets you activate your teammate powers you can charge up your power and get it to a state where you can more easily chain abilities you can do a big special group attack.

You can also activate different power states in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot PC Setup, throughout the game depending on you know if it makes sense to this story and these are risk reward in an interesting way.

Because typically you have way more power but at the cost of your health and stuff deplete it so you got to use it wisely that's fun.

But still sometimes when you're playing sounds like a lot more than it actually is it's pretty mashing combat you might be in the mood for that.

Or you might want something a bit more complex it's satisfying I think it's just not groundbreaking but the presentation helps the vibration feedback behind a punch.

The absolutely perfect freaking sound effects the cool visual explosions and environment damage and cinematic camera shifts all that stuff really helps amp it up.

And make it more satisfying the big battles are a lot of fun especially which is like a pretty good variety of different attack types Dragon Ball Z Kakarot PC Setup having.

And levels of destruction your enemies have throughout the game the random out in the world battles when you're just flying around you know the ones with random enemies.

And creatures nowhere near as exciting and that's where the combat could start to feel a little bit grating after a while especially.

Because everything pretty much boils down to go here bite this or go here maybe you run into a few things to fight and collect these random floating items.

There are side quests in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot PC Setup, which sometimes do a good job of highlighting side characters that I appreciate but ultimately they're pretty simple and don't add too much save for a few here and there.

You can hunt dinosaurs you can take out towers you can find collectibles and stuff like that so there is a solid amount of busy work.

But I just kept finding myself doing the bare minimum to make sure I was strong enough rested and buffed.

And powered up and I move on as quick as possible just to get back to the story cuz that's where the fun really really lied for me one plus about the RPG stuff is the fact that you're in the open world in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot.

The open world itself I kind of like the controls were flying around just feel a little bit off something about it is kind of awkward can't quite put my finger on.

But like when you're zipping fast there is an OK sensation flying around and collecting orbs feels a little cheap.

But I gotta say I really just enjoy it all because the environments I think look incredible I get really excited and and nostalgic flying up to certain locations for the first time in the game.

There's a few little things here and there in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot PC Setup, that are missing they tweak some stuff and added some fillers but it's entertaining as I gotta say sometimes the quality is a little all over the place.

You know the parts with like no voice over is kind of suck then sometimes really great action pack scenes have questionable music and sound effects choices.

Or sometimes a lack of both but I still like I said at the start the big historic moments you know from cells first big appearance to the moment Goku and Vegeta clash it's all there.

It looks freaking great and then you get to jump in and play along with the fights that's the draw there's so much charm to it all chi Chi's cooking.

And the cutscenes where you have to eat the full course meals and get buff are like really amazing helping Master Roshi find his porn and seeing the different vehicles throughout the story in the world's having memorable characters in your party.

And then fighting alongside them I really enjoy it for all of this just taking in that Dragon Ball Z nostalgia you know.

Now there's a lot of emphasis on Goku of course the name of the game is Kakarot which is a really cool choice for a game name I gotta say and it's really great hearing Shaun Schemmel kill it again as a voice actor.

But look lot of other characters get love and attention and I was actually surprised here in there with who the game let me play as even the folks who don't get to play as end up at least getting a moment or two to shine.

And I was happy still its Goku and Gohan story here more than anyone's and it's worth the trip now the sub story is like I said the side quests are often kind of simple.

And disappointing but sometimes they do fun lower stuff that many fans might appreciate seeing the RPG elements I can take them or leave them you know leveling up your abilities.

Essentially with this manage every character as a token on multiple boards and group them together into certain categories to get more attack power XP bonuses more effective cooking higher rates of finding stuff and stuff like that.

In Dragon Ball Z Kakarot PC Setup, you can give characters gifts on this screen to increase their friendship levels and get even more benefits and the stuff earned and getting from this is useful.

But the game seems to think it's more exciting than it is I don't know I just I didn't really vibe with the system but there's something about punching Vegeta through a mountain that I'll just always enjoyed does Dragon Ball Z Kakarot PC Setup, automatically become the best Dragon ball Z game.

Final Words

I don't think it's the end all be all game but you know III think fighters is still really up there on my list but if you want just like a third person Dragon Ball Z adventure game this does pretty much take the cake.

Now like I said the quality is a little up and down and you may not love every single aspect of the gameplay but it's all satisfying enough and playing through and reliving stuff in the video game form is really cool.

I think big fans will really appreciate it and be able to overlook some other stuff it's also pretty lengthy to expect like at least 40 hours if you're playing through and doing a fair amount of side quests and diversions and stuff.

It's fairly comprehensive and ultimately the game really does grow on you like I said at first I was disappointed but as I got stronger and got more abilities at my disposal and really got into the flow of enjoying the story.

I came away fairly positive on this one all the gameplay aspects aren't like oozing with the depth or anything but it still just been very fun to meet personally.
