Persona 5 Royal Review

In this article we will be talking about Persona 5 Royal gameplay, changes and overall review. The story of Persona 5 Royal, is the same there however is a number of new events added throughout the story.

The biggest addition to the game you have to fulfill a specific requirement throughout the story to unlock this episode or else you will get the same ending as in the original.

The requirement however is really easy to figure out and do so no need to worry sadly the third semester turned out to be shorter than hoped for being only around one month long.

And having only one Paris the new palace turned out to be new favorite the developers clearly learned from the shortcomings of the older palaces as I had way more fun playing through this one than the older ones.

Or maybe it was just the excitement for new content such a shame that this is the only new palace after you're done with this palace there will be huge time skips just like in the original.

Well there is a number of new events revolving around the old characters in both the old and new story there aren't exactly many of them.

So if you thought certain characters got the short stick in terms of screen time in your original game you will most likely feel the same this time.

Around as the poster girl of the Royal you will end up seeing a lot of Kazumi she shows up just about everywhere.

And I mean everywhere her introduction is also really early on appearing as early as in the tutorial but also just a few days into the main part her co-op might be my favorite.

Because she's just damn cute good thing she is also a new romance option so if you're one of those degenerates you can date up to 10 people this time around.

Persona 5 Royal Characters

Sai is still not an option while Cosme quickly became new favorite Persona 5 character I also have to admit that I still kind of wish she wasn't added to the game at least not in the way that she was as a developers did her really dirty first off.

You can use an only one Paris even worse is the fact that they go out of the way to rub it in by making you declined her offer to join you early on.

Or just a personal theory it feels like the developers wanted custome to join the party at this point but then decided not to because they were cutting corners.

And didn't want to reanimate every cutscene to feature her then they assumingly forgot she exists during the ending not only being nowhere to be found to give you a new game item.

But also completely missing from the end credits I get actually not being there but cuz me not being there feels just strange at first I thought it was either some kind of oversight or back.

But even after multiple patches she's still nowhere to be found then they are locking every cosmic costume behind the paywall even for some of them were free for the other characters.

Which gets even worse when you consider that you can only play with her for such a short amount of time is it just me or is it not strange that an enhanced re-release has DLC to begin with.

But then again carefully in full body also has DLC so what do I know another problem I have with custome or the Royal in general is that it kinda seems pointless why introduce new unfinished story frets.

And characters to Persona 5 and then have the secret scramble be a secret to the original completely discarding everything introduced in the Royal.

And no atlas adding custom II as a playable character through DLC to scramble won't suffice full story integration or bust Who am I kidding I'm still gonna get it aren't I well then back to the characters.

Akechi now has a new cooperation that isn't bound by story progression the new events focusing on him are pretty much everywhere dream come true for through a catchy fan.

You will also be able to use a catchy in the new palace while that means you can use him in only two palaces that is still twice as much as in the original.

Or twice as much as custome for that matter Madoka Tac Toe is a new co-op character he will join the school as a part time counselor after you're done with the first palace.

Really liked his cooperation story the basic premise is that he counsels you and in return you help him with his feces which is about cognition.

Which I have to admit that sounds suspicious considering what this game story is about I remember back when he was announced people speculated that he is secretly evil.

But I can guarantee you that he is a nice guy after all he gave me candy so we are cool something I really have to commend the game on this that almost every new addition really feels natural.

At first I had concerns that both custome and Maru ki would feel kind of ham fisted into this story and that he changes to a catchy were unnecessary fanservice.

But as it turned out the opposite was the case with all of them even expanding on the themes of Persona 5 in really clever ways which is something I really can't say about.

Another new character in Persona 5 Royal, Josa or is it hacer just as estranged or like boyhood rebels mementos to collect flowers.

So he can turn them into juice which then drinks so he can learn more about humans don't worry I don't get it either joso seems more like secret bait than anything as he leaves nothing.

But cryptic remarks throughout the game that won't even get solved any time soon it's just like everything else introduced in the Royal he won't appear on scramble either.

Maybe we have to wait for Persona 5 scramble the Royal to finally get some answers seems like something atlas would do you can collect flowers for Josa.

And trade them with him for some loot auto related to jostle a stamp machines placed all over mementos collect those stamps to increase the amount of experience money.

And items you earn the wormed fundamental changes to mementos though there are no events that can happen at random sometimes you even get a unique floor layout.

Gameplay and Changes in Persona 5 Royal

The palaces also received some changes featuring new rooms as well as some changed floor layouts as well as some small skips don't like that part just swing a wit with your hook.

Or why not just pay your way through the palace favorite change to the palaces were the additions of new faces during boss fights.

Another one of the big additions is kiichi giorgia where you can play billiard darts sip on some cocktails in a club or reflect at the temple.

There are also some new activities outside of kiichi GOG as well as some new games and books while the cooperation with karolina and justine works still the same as any original.

You can now show them around the outside to offset the increased number of activities you have been given more time Morgana won't force you to go to sleep for every other day anymore.

You only have to audit massage after a palace if you want to leave LeBlanc at night and you get the speed reading book much earlier this time around those changes make it very easy to max the social stats.

And corporations out so you might end up doing nothing for most of your time during the last parts of the game maxing out your soldiers stats isn't the only thing that got easier as the battle system also received some additions.

The flesh is being Showtime a combination attack that deals massive damage they're really fun at first but get old really quick good thing you can skip them.

This makes me wonder however while you still can skip the all out attacks speaking of all out attacks Futaba now has one to the coma is a new type of enemy that counters your text.

But will explode upon defeat dealing damage to every other demon which makes them more useful than dangerous.

Other additions include above to the patron pass a bath to technicals accessories that grant you skills evading enemy attacks to counter them using your hook to attack them from afar which also plays negative status effects knowing the weakness of a demon before attacking it first.

Personas now also have passive abilities there are also some new personas like this one or that one.

Or check this one out everyone also received the first persona for Joker's is locked behind DLC no way that's just absurd where I thought that the battles were easy the original they became so easy in the Royal with all those additions that are increased the difficulty throughout my playthrough.

But then again what is the point of making the fights harder when one ability makes it so that you won't have to fight a single non boss enemy anymore.

I'm talking about you geez insta kill ability this time around he will get experience money and even a persona by performing an insta kill.

I mean it can't get easier than leveling up by not fighting choosing the Reaper and the original was harder and before anyone asks the Reaper finally got his flu shot.

So no Reaper cheese anymore a new way to battle is the challenge battle mode where you have to defeat a set of demons each point of damage you deal is added to a counter.

You can multiply your points by doing specific actions with every score milestone reached you get a reward surprisingly there are no online leaderboards for this mode.

So there is little incentive to keep playing after you got all rewards this would have been fine if it wasn't for the fact that there are only 5 stages to play unless you bought it Challenge battle DLCs which add eight more stages increasing the number to 13 stages.

Which still isn't much again with the DLC there is so much of it then is the problem with them reselling DLC from the original version.

And asking you to pay for it again if you already bought it for the original short hour only 10 yen if you own them for the original.

But there are other games that ended cross game DLC better another even better solution would have been to just include all the old DLC in the Royal from the get go they didn't fully challenge difficulty DLC.

So why not for the rest the my palace is what I would consider a fancy gallery mode typical for a gallery mode you can watch cutscenes, as well as view concept art and in game graphics.

My Palace can also be decorated akin to a model viewer you can also change in your party members.

In Persona 5 Royal, the my palace also features a new minigame daifugo a fun and easy to understand card game as well as an in game trophy system called Awards speaking of trophies.

Final Words

So all in all if you were to ask me if Persona 5 Royal, is worth it costs I would say yes without a doubt.

But if you were to ask me if the content added with the Royal alone is worth it's cost would sadly have to say no while there is quite a lot of new content.

And I'm sure I forgot to mention some of it I wouldn't say that there is enough new substantial content to justify buying the game for the full price again.

But then again for some of you this scene alone will probably justify buying it again for the full price
