In this article we will also talk about Ori and the Will of the Wisps Gameplay and some new things. Ori and the Will of the Wisp is an upcoming exclusive that you will see fairly soon actually forget what the release date is going to be but Orion of lifeforce was a very successful and critically acclaimed game it was. So this is Ori I play the first couple hours of Ori and the blind forest and it was hard it was a hard game I am not 100% sure if the developers decided to make this more of an experience rather than difficulty with the sequel because I found that the game was still had its moments of challenging points in in the will of the West but it wasn't nearly as difficult as or in the blind forest because I'm ever in the blind forest you had opportunities to save and any time you didn't save it send you back to your last physical say for that you manually did yourself.

There were no automatic state points for what I remember in the blind forest and we got caught on a really bad section where you ran that energy or you're really low on health you basically had to get good news either you could do it or you couldn't do it and that was pretty much good but with this game. 

I'm not a hundred percent sure if all the powers such as the sword bow and the arrow the hook shot I don't know if those happen near the end of the original game like if you acquired those power or not but obviously in this demo we do get them and we do have them. We also get a new pool digging power as well.

It's a lot of complex platforming as you can see platformers disappear beneath your feet those stained areas typically faster than they do in traditional platformers usually in less difficult platformer see a little bit more time but in this game they're almost instantly disappear so you have to make your decisions a little bit quicker everything that you expected or got used to in the blind forest returns.

Everything runs fairly smoothly this was played on an Xbox one X so the game obviously doesn't take too much in terms of graphical power because even though it looks beautiful so a fairly simplistic drawing hand art drawing but not like thousands and millions of polygons on the screen at once a game control fantastic everything and having a platformer with bad controls is basically what having you would have like it would be like playing a shooter with bad aiming mechanics it just wouldn't make sense but luckily this game did have really solid controls.

Everything felt very intuitive and responsive which was very nice and it just looks pretty. Here we get our dig power or burrow power which opens up the entire map allows us to basically go everywhere.

New Things in Ori and the Will of the Wisp 

Ori and the Will of the Wisp having some things that I found to be new and interesting about this game. In the first game there were different enemies spread throughout the game however none of them were particularly memorable or challenging in this game though you will have a ton of new enemies. There is now a sand creature flying swarms of some kind of a bird or whatever this is or the monsters to appear to be bigger stronger and uglier.

In the first game their focus was mainly on delivering a superior platforming experience and less on the combat unsurprisingly the combat for the most part ended up being simplistic but this game though they are pulling out all stops to fix that they have redesigned the combat system to give the player more choices and as a result a more balanced experience. We will be getting a bunch of new weapons to counter all the new enemies the one size fits all spirits flame will either get replaced or will be accompanied by an array of many weapons range weapons and potions.

Siving deeper into the combat fume melee weapons are a sword a hammer and grenades so far we have seen the sward in previews I could not confirm the hammer or the grenades though from the trailer it doesn't appear to be that powerful but that could be by design to give the player a visceral combat experience I personally like the original spirit flame as it was unique in the sense that you didn't have to be in the line of sight of the enemy or even in the same plane as the enemy the plane could curb and and somehow reach the enemy as long as you are in the proximity of it with the sward. The combat will be much more direct as you will have to be much closer to the enemies.

For range weapons we now have the classic bow and what looks like a charge to spear or a weapon that discharges a focused beam of spear flame I don't know what it's called it could also be this third spell they mentioned in the interview but these range weapons look powerful the bow it seems like will be more useful in the levels with airborne enemies and other weapons will be most useful than taking down more powerful enemies in the earlier game. The spear flame had an infinite use so there was no cost to using it but I suspect they will put some restrictions on the weapon used this time around.

We will now have spells or potions in the game the spells are divided into active ones and passive ones the actual ones will of course be used for offense and passive ones with before things like healing and likely to weaken the enemies like poisoning them. There is no confirmation on how you can acquire these we don't know if there will be a crafting system or you could just buy these from NPCs or something. If I have to speculate I think you will be able to buy them from NPCs using the in game currency.

Speaking of the in game currency there will now be souls like currency in the game that you can earn by beating enemies completing quests are changing items you then get to spend them on different upgrades even though it seems like a natural progression for the game. I am worried that putting a number that relates to the time spent on the game will make the grind more noticeable but we'll see the game developers have a big challenge ahead of them to make the reward system balanced engaging and meaningful and at the same time not to take away attention from its beautiful artwork and the story.

In terms of new core abilities we know that there are at least two new ones in the sand zones you can now borrow into the sand to discover new areas and fight the sand creatures to uncover very ability cells the other interesting addition is the grappling mechanism you can now grapple on to the key points around the pad to swing from one point to another other than these two abilities I noticed already flying on the owl's bag but I don't know if it is the core ability or if it's just a cutscene chances are it's the latter but we won't know for sure.

Story has been a key aspect of the first game and it looks like they are committed to deliver an even better narrative experience this time around story seems to continue right where they had left off in the last game without spoiling the first game too much the only surviving Kouros egg hatches into a beautiful outlet just as aura was raised by an Naru the baby owl is raised by Ori with help from Naru. Goomer Thomas malar at the moon studios mentioned in an interview that the first game was about the relationship between the parent which is Naru and the child which is Ori this game will be about siblings I really hope they don't end up killing any of these main characters especially Naru.

Keeping up with the changing times this game will now feature a multiplayer ish component there will be certain sections in the map that will offer you optional competitive trials these are being called spirit trials in these trials you can choose to compete with about ten players either from your region or from around the world for a chance at being the fastest there will likely be some rewards for doing these trials. There is a possibility that you could bring over these rewards to the main quest but take that with a grain of salt the details are still being worked on so things could change.

At Gamescom 2018 the co-founder of Moon Studios mentioned that they have completely redesigned the spirit tree chart system in the first game we have three paths in the ability tree and you upgrade your abilities as you progress however as he rightly said it limited players as well as them because you are kind of locked in to these three long paths for certain abilities you first need to get all the previous abilities which becomes kind of Impractical towards the end of the game when you are already so powerful that you don't need those extra abilities to complete the game.

Final Words

It's good to see that the developers have realized that and have redesigned it from ground up in the new design you will be able to acquire any abilities depending on your style of play if we find the platforming challenging you can spend your in game currency on say a double jump or even a triple jump early in the game or if you find certain enemies difficult you can invest more on weapon based abilities. This is a welcome change as it will give players more choices and also increase the game's replay value.

There will be more types of chars this time around and at least some of them will be fungible for example a large spirit light container can now be used as is or it can be converted into the in-game currency in an effort to bring more RPG elements to the game and make the world look more lived in expect a bunch of NPC's for doing side quests buying upgrades and buying Maps there is still a lot that we don't know about this game all the indications point towards a bigger better and a fun experience.
