Qualcomm Announced the Most Extreme and Powerful 7nm Snapdragon 8cx Processor for Laptop

On the final day of Snapdragon Tech Summit 2018 conference in Hawaii, Qualcomm announced the powerful 7nm Snapdragon 8cx processor for windows laptops.The company claims that Snapdragon 8cx is the world’s first 7nm PC platform and is the result of the company’s Snapdragon on Windows initiative.

The snapdragon 8cx will feature Qualcomm’s Kryo 495 CPU and the Adreno 680 GPU, which will be able to power dual 4K HDR monitors. Qualcomm says the Adreno 680 extreme is twice as fast as the Adreno 630 and 3.5x faster than the Adreno 835. It’s also 60 percent more efficient than the Snapdragon 850, providing longer gaming time and video playback than previous generations.

The Snapdragon 8cx also supports up to 16GB of 8-channel DDR4 memory, faster UFS 3.0 ssd, and NVME fast, large storage drives.The Snapdragon 8cx also supports the DirectX 12 API, Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology, Hi-Fi audio, second generation USB 3.1 Type-C, up to dual 4K resolution, HDR monitors and will come integrated with Qualcomm’s X24 2 Gbps LTE modem.

Alex Katouzian, senior vice president and general manager of mobile business unit at Qualcomm Technologies said, "With performance and battery life as our design tenets, we are bringing 7nm innovations to the PC space, allowing for smartphone like capabilities to transform the computing experience.Qualcomm has said nothing about the release date for Snapdragon 8cx.
